Advisory: Citizens responds to Restoration Association of Florida public records request



February 01, 2019 - Tallahassee

Citizens Property Insurance Corporation on Friday issued a response to a public records request submitted January 18, 2019, by the Restoration Association of Florida.

The group has requested detailed information contained in 257,381 individual claims files submitted to Citizens between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2018.

As a government entity Citizens is subject to Chapter 119, Florida Statute, and is committed to transparency and openness. At the same time, state and federal law prohibit Citizens from sharing detailed information held within individual claims’ files as requested. Citizens has explained this to the requestor, as well as outlining how more composite information on the subject matters can be obtained.
