Barry Gilway, president, CEO and executive director of Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, released the following statement Monday regarding property insurance reforms contained in SB 2A and HB 1A, which are being considered by the Florida Legislature this week during Special Session 2022A.

“This is historic legislation that addresses so many critical issues that have plagued the Florida market for many years,” said Barry Gilway, Citizens president, CEO and executive director. “I’m highly optimistic that, should the bill pass in the proposed format, it will attract more capital to the market and eventually improve the reinsurance picture.”
