The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) has approved an increase in the glide path capping for primary Personal Lines policies, effective January 1, 2026.

Per statutory requirements, annual rate changes for Citizens’ policies are subject to glide path capping. Per Senate Bill 76, which modified (but did not establish) the glide path, the last statutorily required annual 1% increase in the glide path cap to 15% will take effect January 1, 2026, excluding:

• Coverage changes
• Personal Lines policies for nonprimary residences (which may not be charged more than 50% above the prior year’s established rate for Citizens)
• Mitigation adjustments
• Rate changes for sinkhole loss coverage
• Surcharges and assessments
• A required rapid cash build-up provision for the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF), if applicable.
