Annual Review

Asset Publisher

A lot can happen in a year. Contact information changes, mortgages get transferred, and property updates and improvements are made. Citizens recommends that you review your policy and coverages with your agent at least once a year to ensure that your contact information is up-to-date and your coverages and deductibles are appropriate.

You can review your policy details through myPolicy. You also should review your renewal package and Declarations page when you receive it to ensure your coverages are correct and adequate. For additional information about your policy and available coverage, contact your agent or Citizens Customer Care at 866.411.2742.

Annual Policy Review

Your annual policy review should include the following:

Contact information

Review and verify your contact information:

  • Mailing address
  • Phone numbers
  • Named parties on the policy
  • Mortgagee (if applicable)

Coverage Review

If you have done anything to increase the value of your home or business, such as additions or remodeling, or made major purchases, inform your agent. Your agent can help determine whether you need to alter any of your coverages to make sure you are adequately insured in case of a loss.

You agent also can any recommend optional coverages or discounts that might be available and appropriate for your property.

Home Inventory

Citizens recommends that you complete and annually update a home inventory of your belongings and personal property. A home inventory is a complete, room-by-room documentation of your belongings, including their purchase date and approximate value.

There are many ways to complete a home inventory, including video, photos and even writing the details down in notebook. Keep your inventory in a safe, easily accessible location, and take it with you if you need to evacuate.

Are You Covered for Flood?

Flooding is a natural disaster that can affect you no matter where you live. Florida residents, especially those near the coast and other flood-prone areas, have an especially high risk for flooding due to the storm surge and heavy rains present in tropical storms and hurricanes.

Citizens does not cover damage due to storm surge and other forms of flood loss (flood, wave wash, tidal surge, etc.).

Flood insurance is available through the federal government’s National Flood Insurance Program and private-market flood insurance companies. Visit www.floodsmart.gov, or contact your agent to learn more.
