Mobile Home Policies: Coverage A and C Minimum Limits Changes

The Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) approved Citizens’ filing to decrease the minimum Coverage A and C limits, from $6,000 to $3,000, for personal residential mobile home policies. These changes align with Florida House Bill 573, and coverage is subject to the policy language. The new minimum limits were effective June 13, 2013, for new and renewal business.

The following forms will be impacted:

Coverage A

  • Mobile Homeowners 3 – Special Form (CIT MHO-3)
  • Mobilehome Dwelling Property 1 – Basic Form (CIT MDP-1)
  • Mobile Homeowners 2 – Wind-Only Form (MW-00 02)
  • Mobile Home Dwelling Property 1 – Wind-Only Form (MD-00 01)

Coverage C

  • Citizens Mobile Homeowners 4 – Contents Broad Form (CIT MHO-4)
  • Mobilehome Dwelling Property 1 – Basic Form (CIT MDP-1)
  • Mobile Homeowners 4 – Contents Wind-Only Form (MH HW-4)

Important information about this change:

  • Effective August 1, 2013, ePAS will allow agents to write Coverage A and C limits as low as $3,000.
  • Any requests to reduce Coverage A and C limits below $6,000 must be signed by the named insured and include a current 360Value® estimate.
  • On MHO-3 and MHO-4 policy forms, the $500 All Other Perils deductible and 10 percent Hurricane deductible combination is not available when Coverage A is less than $5,000.
