Gilway then moved to Mattei Insurance Services, where he led its turnaround as Chief Executive Officer, reporting to the Economical Board of Directors. He left Mattei in 2012 to assume the leadership of Citizens.

Gilway earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Akron University and is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Business Executive Program.
