Insufficient Funds Fee Clarification
September 01, 2015 - IE #031-15
As previously announced in ATB 002-15 for personal lines and ATB 007-14 for commercial lines, Citizens received approval from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) to impose an insufficient funds (NSF) fee.
To clarify, the $15 NSF fee will be imposed only when payment is made by check or draft, and it is returned for insufficient funds. NSF fees will not be imposed on epayments, electronic funds transfers (EFT) or automatic clearing house (ACH) payments.
- Checks made payable to Citizens may not be entered as epayments.
- At this time, Citizens has not begun to impose the $15 NSF fee. Future communications will advise when the fee will be imposed.
